In Performance

SHMD’s In Performance series features three seasonal showings of new works by our choreographers-in-residence, as well as occasional performances by nationally and internationally renowned performance artists. Tickets for all performances are $10 ($7 with DancePass).

SATURDAY & SUNDAY, JUNE 7 & 8, 8 pm
An Evening of Duets
Hosted by Devynn Emory

Choreographers: Megan Byrne (NYC - Sunday only), Faye Driscoll (NYC - Saturday only), Devynn Emory (PHL), Gin MacCallum (PHL - Sunday only), Jen Rosenblit/Bottom Heavy Productions (NYC), Kathryn TeBordo (PHL - Saturday only), Christina Zani (PHL)

Choreographers Project resident Devynn Emory hosts New York and Philadelphia choreographers in a collaboration celebrating the duet in modern dance. The performance offers local audiences an introduction to the work of the New York artists and an opportunity to continue their journey with Philadelphia-area artists. Emory's goal is to encourage mutual support between independent choreographers from the two cities and encourage dialogue among them.

SATURDAY & SUNDAY, JUNE 14 & 15, 8 pm
New Works by the 2007-8 Choreographers Project

Choreographers: Devynn Emory, Olive Prince, Meredith Rainey, and Kate Watson-Wallace

In their final presentation of the 2007-8 season, the resident choreographers introduce audiences to parts or all of works they have been creating in their time at the Hess Studio. These "In Performance" showings offer audiences glimpses of new creations, insight into the artists' development, and opportunities to talk to the artists after the performance about their works, directions, and process.
