Masters Exchange

Since 2001, the Masters Exchange has brought distinguished professional choreographers and interdisciplinary performance artists to the Hess Studio to mentor the resident artists.  In these sessions, choreographers-in-residence may present segments of works in progress, participate in group exercises, and dialogue intensively with the visiting teachers. 

Artist-pedagogues who have participated in the Masters Exchange include Ron K. Brown, Lucinda Childs, Siobhan Davies, Simon Dove, Simone Forti, Andre Gingras, Ralph Lemon, Susan Marshall, and Wendy Rogers. 

In March 2011, SHMD welcomes back the artistic director of Cross Performance, distinguished "conceptualist" Ralph Lemon – choreographer, dancer, writer, and visual artist – for a Masters Exchange with the residents, to be held at The Performance Garage.
